Vanessa Glushefski is a Certified Public Account and an attorney. She moved to Erie County just under a decade ago and fell in love with the region and its potential. Vanessa is deeply committed to fairness, accuracy, and justice.
Last year, Vanessa ran for Erie County Comptroller. As a first time candidate, she raised about $100,000 less than the twice-elected incumbent. In spite of this, she outperformed his last competitor by double the votes, with poll numbers showing a few thousand votes between them.
This experience running a grassroots, social-media driven campaign against a well-funded Republican gave Vanessa a close-up look at local politics, its funders, and its game players. She's excited to provide those insights to her community, to encourage a healthier, smarter political discourse.
As an accountant, she focused on providing services with excellence, complex tax issues, and worked on accounts worth millions of dollars. Throughout her legal career, she has focused on providing accessible legal services to at-risk communities. She has offered volunteer services to the elderly and low-income individuals. Vanessa has also served as a board member for the American Constitution Society, the Women’s Bar Association of WNY, and Peaceprints of Western New York. A mother of four, she lives in the City of Buffalo with her husband and daughters.
